Irememberedthefirsttime.Theshock,theshame,theutterhelplessness.Thefeelingofbeingstrippednotjustofmyclothes,butofafundamentalpartofmyself.Thebody,afterall,ismorethanjustfleshandbone.Itisourvessel,ouridentity,theveryembodimentofourexistence.Tohaveitsothoroughlyscrutinized,soarbitrarilyinvaded,istobereminded,intheharshestterms,ofone'sdiminishedstatus.
